Eric invited us to come along on his traditional Spring Training Camp - where he gets together with his mountain bike racing buddies in Moab and they try to pulverize one another on their bikes.
Sure it sounds fun now...
First, some details - before I forget.
Matt, Evan, and I picked up Ken from the airport around 10:00 PM - hours late.
Matt drove us to Spanish Fork where he got seriously lost, mad, and blamed us. Hours later.
Arrived at campsite on Sand Flat Road (near Slickrock Trailhead). Very late, everyone asleep, fire smoldering.
Next morning awoke to Eric and friends eating bacon and quoting National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation - appropriate I'm sure, somehow, in their minds.
Introductions all around. Ride planning begins.
Day One ride plan is to start slow - give legs a chance to reawaken: Flat Pass loop - from camp.
This "from camp" notion alarmed me. And it was to become a repeating theme for the trip.
After lunch: Slickrock Trail - from camp.
Day two: Goldbar Rim to Portal Trail - from camp.
Day three: Klondike Bluffs to Baby Steps - from (thank God) parking lot.
Drove home with friend and neighbor Steve.
