The clouds crept in and an airy light snow began draping itself silently on our feet as we shuffled our way back up. Every sound was muffled and distant in our goose-down aspen-pocked snowglobe. Our enchanted evening. Just Dave. And me. Like 'Mac and Me', the motion picture of my youth (1988) that no one ever remembers. Dave and I were engaged on an extraterrestrial plain - transcending this Earthly coil. A haze of softly dripping snow became a conduit for our souls. An inter-stellar wormhole through which no bounty-huntress could penetrate.
Just me, and Dave. A boy, and his alien.

I'll be right here, Dave.
(truthfully I don't remember ever seeing 'Mac and Me' but it is inextricably part of my childhood. As are those commercial airplanes that collided over my house in Kearns and left human limbs perched in the trees and rain gutters of my neighborhood. Tragic, tragic. And quite disturbing. Even to this day I am deeply not interested in flying in a plane if it is going to crash into another plane in mid-air. They need a checkbox for that on Orbitz.com.)
